Transferring an Asgard Edge License to a New Q-SYS Core
An Asgard Edge licence is locked to the Locking ID of a specific Q-SYS Core. If you're replacing, upgrading, or swapping the Core at a site running Asgard Edge, the existing licence has to be reissued against the new Core's Locking ID before Asgard Edge will run on it. This article covers when you need a transfer and how to request one.
When you need this
- Replacing a faulty or end-of-life Core with a new unit
- Upgrading to a different Core model for more channels or processing headroom
- Moving an existing Asgard Edge deployment to different hardware at the same site
If you're licensing Asgard Edge on a Core for the first time (not a transfer), contact Redfish Technologies directly rather than using this process.
Before you start
Have the following on hand for both the original and the new Core:
| Detail | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Core model | Printed on the unit / your design documentation |
| Locking ID | Core Manager > Licensing page (always starts with *) |
| Q-SYS Designer Software (QDS) version | Q-SYS Designer > Help > About |
| Asgard Edge plugin version | Q-SYS Designer > plugin properties, or Asset Manager |
You'll also need the new Core's serial number, and the site name and location the licence is registered to.
Finding a Core's Locking ID
- Log in to Core Manager for the Q-SYS Core.
- Go to Licensing.
- Copy the Locking ID exactly as shown, including the leading
*.
How to submit a transfer request
- Download the Asgard Edge Licence Transfer Request form attached to the bottom of this article.
- Complete the requestor and site details, the original Core details, and the new Core details.
- Enter your required delivery date — see turnaround time below before you set this.
- Submit the completed form to Redfish Technologies:
- Email: support@redfishtechnologies.com.au
- Phone: +61 8 7744 3000
Turnaround time
Allow a minimum of 3 business days between your request date and the date you need the new licence delivered. Requests submitted with less notice may not be actioned in time — plan licence transfers into your changeover schedule in advance, particularly for scheduled hardware replacements.
What happens next
Redfish Technologies processes the request against the new Core's Locking ID and issues an updated licence file. You'll receive the new licence details to activate on the new Core through Core Manager > Licensing, the same way the original licence was applied.
